Bangkok Recommendations on Community-Led Approaches and Innovations toward an Inclusive Silver Economy
Co-produced over three days by policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and civil society, the final Bangkok Recommendations are now available in English. The accompanying Policy Brief is now available in English and Thai.
From shared evidence to mutual recommendations
One of the conference's three core objectives is to generate mutual recommendations and pathways for continued joint work — co-produced policy recommendations, research agendas, and implementation-oriented action plans that support follow-up activities, partnerships, and sustained engagement at local, national, and regional levels. The Bangkok Recommendations are the principal vehicle for that objective: a shared statement, agreed across host, co-host, and partner institutions, on how to strengthen community-led care systems, build community resilience, and advance an inclusive silver economy.
They are accompanied by a concise Policy Brief and a conference synthesis report, together forming the co-produced outputs envisaged under the conference's expected outcomes.
How the Recommendations were developed
Evidence and scenario testing
Four analytical labs (Community Long-Term Care & Caregiver Support; Workforce, Standards & Safeguarding; Financing & Community Care Upscaling; Age-Friendly Environments & Community Resilience) diagnosed current realities, tested future scenarios, and surfaced preliminary recommendations.
First draft
Thematic group work, facilitated by the College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University, consolidated lab outputs into a first draft of recommendations for policy, practice, and collaboration.
Plenary review and refinement
Participants reviewed and refined the draft Bangkok Recommendations, identified actionable activities, and clarified institutional roles and partnerships for follow-up.
Priority actions confirmed
Lead institutions and priority actions were confirmed across four action areas (A–D), confirmed by the organising committee.
Final English text received; Thai translation drafted
The final Bangkok Recommendations 2026 document was issued in English. A formal Thai translation has been drafted and is pending co-host and partner review before being endorsed as the official Thai version.
Policy Brief published in English and Thai
The accompanying Policy Brief was finalised and published in English and Thai. The Korean translation of the Bangkok Recommendations remains in preparation.
